Benin Republic: As the country approaches upcoming electoral deadlines, the Prefect of Mono Department, Dêdêgnon Bienvenu Milohin, has issued a strong warning against electoral misconduct.

In a radio broadcast communiqué dated January 6, 2026, the prefect reminded the public that, in accordance with Article 52 of Law No. 2024-13 of March 15, 2024, which amends and supplements Law No. 2019-43 of November 15, 2019 governing the Electoral Code of the Republic of Benin, all forms of campaign activities are strictly prohibited on election day.
The communiqué states that it is forbidden to distribute ballot papers, leaflets, or any campaign materials, as well as to wear or display party symbols, emblems, or any distinctive signs of candidates within polling centers.
The prefect warned that any individual who violates these provisions will face penalties as stipulated under the applicable Penal Code of the Republic of Benin.
He further noted that political and administrative authorities have been instructed to ensure wide dissemination of the directive within their respective jurisdictions to ensure peaceful and lawful elections.
The announcement was broadcast several times on local radio stations, including Radio Lokossa, Radio Comè, and Radio Ahémé, in French and various local languages.
