Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled no fewer than 60 students for examination malpractice and related misconduct.
The decision was reached during the institution’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting, where reports and recommendations from relevant academic and disciplinary committees were carefully reviewed.
The expulsions were announced in the university’s official Weekly Bulletin released on Friday. According to the bulletin, the affected students were found guilty of breaching the university’s examination rules and regulations.
A statement sighted on Saturday said the Senate considered each case individually before approving the sanctions in line with existing regulations.
“The Senate, after thorough examination of the cases, approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement read.
The university reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice, warning that strict sanctions would continue to be enforced to discourage future violations. It added that no student would be spared, regardless of status or department.
BUK recalled that in April 2025, it expelled 62 students and rusticated 17 others over similar offences, following a resolution adopted at its 42nd Senate meeting held on February 26, 2025.
