Authorities in Jerusalem have ordered the closure of schools and non-essential workplaces following Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran.
In a statement issued on Saturday, officials said the directive takes immediate effect and will remain in place until 6:00 p.m. GMT on Monday. The decision followed what Israel described as a preemptive strike against its long-standing adversary.
Citing an assessment by the Home Front Command, the government announced a shift from full operations to essential services nationwide.
“There will be no educational activities, public gatherings, or regular work operations, except for personnel classified as essential workers,” the statement read.
The restrictions began at 8:00 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) on Saturday and are scheduled to last until 8:00 p.m. local time (1800 GMT) on Monday.
The development comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran.
