President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of a new set of Nigerian ambassadors, including the posting of Reno Omokri to Mexico and Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany.
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the President approved the posting of 65 ambassadors in total, comprising 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors, to represent Nigeria in various countries and at the United Nations.
Onanuga also disclosed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément—the formal diplomatic approval—from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, while the French government has granted agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.
He added that the ministry has forwarded the names of the remaining nominees to their respective host countries and requested agrément in line with established diplomatic procedures.
The presidential aide further stated that President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin orientation and induction programmes for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.
The latest postings follow the confirmation of the nominees by the Senate in December last year.
