President Bola Tinubu has reassured the Nigerian military and other security agencies that the country will ultimately defeat terrorism and banditry, despite the recent deadly attacks in Borno State.

The President gave the assurance on Friday during an interfaith Iftar (breaking of fast) with service chiefs and heads of paramilitary agencies at the State House in Abuja.

Tinubu expressed appreciation for the efforts of security personnel battling insurgency and banditry across the country, declaring that Nigeria would emerge victorious.

“We will win. Nigeria will prevail,” the President said.

He revealed that he had personally called Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum to express sympathy over the recent attacks in the state that resulted in several deaths.

According to him, the call was meant to share in the grief of the people of Borno and reaffirm the Federal Government’s support.

“My sympathy goes to the Vice President, the entire country, and especially the people of Borno for the incidents that occurred. I called Governor Zulum to share the pain with him,” Tinubu said.

The President also commended members of the armed forces and other security agencies for their sacrifices, noting that many of them spend long periods away from their families while protecting the nation.

He acknowledged their dedication both on the battlefield and in supporting roles, describing their efforts as vital to Nigeria’s sovereignty and stability.

Tinubu assured them that the nation remained grateful for their service and that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

The President further promised that the welfare of military personnel and their families would continue to receive priority attention from the government. He admitted that challenges such as inadequate accommodation for service members still exist but said efforts were ongoing to address them.

Speaking on the country’s economic situation, Tinubu said the reforms introduced by his administration were beginning to yield positive results.

He noted that although the government faced a difficult start, the economy had begun to stabilise.

“We had a rough ride when we started, but we have stabilised. Your sacrifices and those of your fellow citizens are not in vain. We are coming out of the dark tunnel and seeing brighter days ahead,” he said.

Tinubu emphasised that Nigeria has historically overcome major challenges through unity and collective effort.

He also hinted that the government had recently approved additional resources and support to strengthen the operational capacity of the military.

The interfaith Iftar was attended by members of the Federal Executive Council, service chiefs, heads of paramilitary organisations, and other senior government officials.
