The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a ruling that Senegal forfeited the tournament’s final match.
The decision was announced on Tuesday night after CAF’s Appeal Board upheld a protest filed by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF). The board determined that Senegal violated competition regulations, leading to a reversal of an earlier disciplinary outcome.
According to CAF, the final match has now been recorded as a 3–0 victory in favour of Morocco, effectively handing them the continental title.
“The Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match, with the result recorded as 3–0 in favour of the FRMF,” the governing body stated.
The ruling also addressed other disciplinary issues, including matters involving Moroccan player Ismaël Saibari and incidents that occurred during the game. However, these did not affect the final decision on the forfeiture.
Further details are expected to be released later.
