The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, is set to inaugurate a community-based security outfit known as “Ibadan Guards,” alongside a food support programme tagged “Gaari Ibadan.”
The twin initiatives are part of efforts to strengthen security and improve the welfare of residents across Ibadan.
According to the event’s organising committee, the Ibadan Guards will work in collaboration with existing security agencies to curb crime and enhance safety in the city. The initiative has received commendation from stakeholders, who described it as a proactive step toward community development.
The committee noted that Oba Ladoja, a former governor and senator, has continued to demonstrate strong commitment to the growth and sustainability of Ibadanland through people-oriented programmes.
In addition to the security outfit, the “Gaari Ibadan” initiative aims to tackle hunger and provide relief to vulnerable residents. The programme is being driven by the Olubadan Committee on Economic and Investment, chaired by Onikepo Akande, with Dapo Afolabi serving as co-chair, alongside other prominent indigenes.
Community leaders, including traditional Baales under the leadership of Olunde Ige, also contributed to the development of the initiatives.
The commissioning ceremony is expected to attract traditional rulers, government officials, and other key stakeholders, marking a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to promote security, economic stability, and social welfare in Ibadanland.
