Security agencies in Kwara State have been placed on high alert following intelligence suggesting that suspected terrorists are planning coordinated attacks on three local government areas in the Kwara South Senatorial District.
The potential targets are Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin Local Government Areas, with attacks reportedly planned for March 23 and March 28, 2026.
Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch, confirmed in a statement on Saturday that security operatives have been alerted and precautionary measures are being intensified to protect communities.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. “Your safety is our priority. Let’s work together to keep our communities safe. Stay safe, stay alert,” the statement read.
The alert has been formally communicated to the Kwara State Police Command, the chairmen of the affected LGAs, and other relevant security agencies. Community leaders and local security networks are collaborating with law enforcement to ensure early detection of any suspicious movements.
Residents have been advised to stay calm while remaining attentive to unusual activities in their communities. Internal security operations have reportedly been activated across the potentially affected areas.
This development comes amid rising concerns over the activities of armed groups and bandits in North Central Nigeria, with several states in the region recently strengthening security measures to counter potential threats.
As of filing, the Kwara State Police Command has not issued a public statement regarding the intelligence.
