Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday distributed official vehicles to Level 17 officers in the state’s public service, describing the initiative as a strategic move to enhance efficiency within government operations.

Announcing the development via his X (formerly Twitter) account, the governor explained that the recipients—directors across various ministries, departments, and agencies—play critical roles in driving the state’s administrative performance. Providing them with official vehicles, he said, was a deliberate effort to support their responsibilities and improve overall service delivery.

According to Sanwo-Olu, equipping top-level officers with the necessary tools boosts morale and encourages greater accountability. He noted that a well-supported workforce is more likely to remain focused, take ownership of its duties, and deliver results with stronger commitment.

He further stated that the distribution forms part of broader, ongoing reforms aimed at improving standards and strengthening the effectiveness of the state’s public service.
This latest exercise marks the third time the administration has carried out such a distribution for directors. In January 2023, shortly after his re-election, 100 new vehicles were allocated to Grade Level 17 officers across sectors including education, healthcare, and the core civil service. A similar rollout followed in July 2024 at the State Secretariat in Alausa, with officials indicating that the initiative would continue in phases to reach more beneficiaries.
Level 17 represents the highest rank in Nigeria’s civil service hierarchy, comprising directors who head departments and serve as the most senior career officials in government institutions.
