As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has appealed to former lawmakers from the northern region to throw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
Speaking during a political dialogue session held in Abuja, Gbajabiamila described Tinubu as a true national leader committed to inclusive governance and equitable development across all regions of the country.
“President Tinubu is not just a southern leader; he is a national leader who has carried every region along,” Gbajabiamila said.
He pointed to the administration’s ongoing infrastructure projects in northern Nigeria—including the expansion of road networks, rail systems, and agriculture-focused initiatives—as proof of Tinubu’s dedication to balanced national development.
Gbajabiamila emphasized that sustaining Nigeria’s progress hinges on unity, continuity, and honoring political commitments.
“We are laying solid foundations today, and it is only right that the President is allowed to finish what he started,” he said.
Highlighting key benefits the North has received under Tinubu’s administration, Gbajabiamila noted: “From critical infrastructure to wide-ranging policy reforms, the North is clearly benefitting from a government that prioritizes equity and shared prosperity.”
The appeal marks part of broader efforts by the presidency to consolidate nationwide support ahead of the 2027 polls.
