Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed a Chinese national, Li Zhensheng, as the state’s Economic Adviser.
The announcement came during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bauchi State Government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, held in Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed said the appointment is part of a strategy to position Bauchi as a hub for global partnerships, with the agreement expected to attract investments and boost projects in agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.
“We are opening Bauchi to the world,” the governor stated, adding that the state will establish a representative office in China to coordinate projects and ensure timely execution.
He explained that the partnership aligns with the diplomatic relations fostered by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, and is aimed at driving foreign direct investment, creating jobs, enhancing skills, modernising industries, and elevating Bauchi’s international profile.
Zhensheng, who also chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged to mobilise resources towards transforming Bauchi’s economy.
