The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke over his recent foreign trip, alleging that the governor disguised his visit to the United States as an investment drive when, in reality, it was primarily to prepare for the wedding of his nephew, popular musician David Adeleke, known as Davido.

In a statement released on Monday and signed by the state APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the opposition party described the governor’s conduct abroad as “disgraceful,” accusing him of neglecting governance while squandering state resources.
According to the party, Adeleke left Osun State over a month ago under the pretext of wooing investors, only for images and videos of him in beer parlours and other casual gatherings in the U.S. to surface online. Viral footage also showed the governor drumming alongside unidentified individuals, which the APC said reflected poorly on his sense of responsibility.
“It is shocking that more than a week after the wedding, Governor Adeleke has remained in the U.S., claiming to still be on an investor search. This is nothing but a cover-up for his poor judgment and frivolous junketing,” the statement read.
The APC accused Adeleke of spending over ₦6 billion on foreign trips in the last 30 months without securing any tangible foreign direct investment for Osun. It alleged that the governor squandered ₦3.1 billion on overseas travel in the first half of 2025 alone, in addition to ₦1.2 billion in 2024 and ₦753 million in 2023.
The party further condemned the governor’s handling of key issues in the state, including what it described as worsening insecurity, a civil service crisis, and the unresolved recruitment saga affecting over 32,000 job applicants who allegedly paid fees without being employed.
It also faulted Adeleke for dismissing 1,500 teachers without replacements, worsening the shortage of staff in the education sector. “Osun schools need teachers, and our hospitals need doctors, nurses, and other health professionals. Instead of partying abroad, Governor Adeleke should return home to provide the leadership the state urgently requires,” Lawal stated.
The APC urged the governor to immediately cut short his stay abroad and return to address pressing challenges such as unemployment, insecurity, and the dilapidated health and education sectors, warning that “governance has never been this debased in the history of Osun State.”
