Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed confidence that Nigeria is on the right trajectory under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, as the administration’s reforms begin to yield visible results.
In his Independence Day message marking Nigeria’s 65th anniversary, Akpabio dismissed suggestions that the country is “finished” or beyond redemption, stressing that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is gradually reshaping the nation.
“At 65, we are mature and should be working for the unity of the nation and the prosperity of our people. We salute the resilience, patience and endurance of Nigerians over the last two years. The pains from these reforms are temporary, but the benefits are already beginning to show,” he said.
The Federal Government had earlier declared Wednesday, October 1, a public holiday to celebrate the nation’s independence from Britain in 1960. However, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation later announced that the traditional military parade would not hold this year.
Akpabio urged citizens to remain hopeful and endure the challenges that come with ongoing reforms, assuring that the sacrifices being made today will secure a better future for generations to come.
“I must tell you that Nigeria is not finished. Do not believe the false narrative that this nation is irredeemable. With collective support, the Renewed Hope Agenda will take us to the promised land,” he stated.
