Renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80.
Sources confirmed that the respected cleric died on Monday morning, leaving behind a legacy that spanned decades of evangelism, healing, and empowerment.
A family source who spoke to the media described his passing as “a sad loss,” adding that Rev. Ukpai was “a charismatic preacher in the 1980s and 1990s whose message of deliverance brought freedom to many lives from the kingdom of darkness.”
Beyond his evangelical mission, Rev. Ukpai was also a visionary leader in education and healthcare. He served as Chairman of the Uma Ukpai Eye Centre and King of Kings Hospital, both located in Abia State.
He founded and managed several institutions, including the Uma Ukpai School of Theology and Biblical Studies in Uyo, Uma Ukpai Polytechnic, Asaga, and the Uma Ukpai Scholarship Foundation. He also established the Joseph Business School, reflecting his passion for holistic human development.
Rev. Ukpai was widely celebrated for his faith-based crusades across Nigeria and beyond, which drew massive crowds and inspired countless souls. His ministry and philanthropic works earned him admiration within and outside the Christian community.
