The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a nationwide directive warning officers against engaging in illegal or unprofessional conduct while on duty. The Force emphasised that commanding officers would be held responsible for adequately training and supervising their personnel.
According to a wireless circular dated Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and issued from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, officers are prohibited from escorting money unlawfully, colluding with criminals, giving preferential treatment to VIPs, or allowing themselves to be filmed while performing official duties.
The directive, sent by AIGPOL PROTECT, instructed that any breaches of these rules should be treated with the utmost seriousness and immediate corrective action should follow.
It stated:
“AIGPOL PROTECT is concerned about the conduct of some personnel engaging in illegal duties and unprofessional behavior, including illegal money escort, collaboration with criminals, opening doors for VIPs, and appearing in content videos while on duty. Commanding officers must ensure proper training and supervision of their teams.”
The message was circulated to police commands nationwide, including locations such as Lagos, Kano, Yola, Makurdi, Benin, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Lokoja, Umuahia, Sokoto, Osogbo, Bauchi, Abeokuta, Akure, Awka, Enugu, Ibadan, Minna, Calabar, Asaba, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, and Owerri.
