The Lagos State Police Command has reassured residents of their safety and security following reports of a planned protest or disruption on the Third Mainland Bridge by some youths in the Oworonshoki area.
In a statement released on Monday, the Command said it was fully aware of the viral information and had already taken proactive steps to prevent any breakdown of law and order. It added that adequate personnel had been deployed to strategic locations to ensure the protection of lives, property, and the smooth flow of traffic across the state.
“The Command wishes to assure the public that robust security measures are in place to maintain peace and order throughout Lagos,” the statement read.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who signed the statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, noted that officers had been mobilized to forestall any attempt to obstruct movement or cause disturbance on the bridge or anywhere else in the metropolis.
Adebisi urged residents to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring them of the police’s readiness to respond swiftly to any threat.
“The public is advised to cooperate with security personnel and provide useful information where necessary,” she added.
The Command further warned that any individual or group found attempting to breach public peace would face decisive action in accordance with the law.
