The Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State, Abass Aleshinloye, has extended warm greetings to Muslims and Christians across the country as they commence their respective fasting seasons.
In his goodwill message through his media office, Aleshinloye congratulated the Muslim faithful on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and Christians observing the Lenten season, describing the period as a sacred time for spiritual reflection, sacrifice, self-discipline, and renewed commitment to God and humanity.
The former Oyo Algon Chairman emphasized that the concurrent observance of fasting by both faiths presents a unique opportunity for Nigerians to strengthen bonds of love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
According to him, “This season calls for deep reflection, compassion for the less privileged, and a collective resolve to promote peace and unity in our communities. As we fast and pray, let us also commit ourselves to building a nation anchored on justice, equity, and mutual respect.”
The Commissioner urged citizens to use the period to pray for the peace, stability, and progress of Nigeria, while encouraging acts of charity and kindness towards one another regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
Aleshinloye reaffirmed his commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and national cohesion in line with the mandate of the Federal Character Commission.
He wished all Muslims and Christians a spiritually fulfilling fasting period and prayed that their sacrifices and supplications would yield lasting blessings for the nation.
