Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggy, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
Sources said the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon beneath the Sango-Ota bridge while the skit maker was filming a comedy video.
Although details surrounding the shooting remain unclear, a police source who spoke anonymously said the injury occurred during the skit production. According to the source, members of his crew quickly transported him to Blooming Care Hospital for immediate medical attention.
“He was filming a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when the gunshot injury happened. We are still trying to determine the circumstances, but his team rushed him to the hospital immediately,” the source said.
Medical personnel reportedly administered first aid when he arrived at the facility. He was later transferred to Duchess Hospital, where he is currently receiving further treatment and recuperating.
Attempts to obtain confirmation from the two hospitals were unsuccessful, as calls to the numbers listed on their social media pages did not connect. Text messages sent to them had not been answered as of the time of filing the report.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, said the police were alerted by the hospital after the injured entertainer was brought in.
According to her, officers who responded to the report found that the victim was the well-known skit maker Broda Shaggy, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his thigh.
“The hospital informed the police about a gunshot victim brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were sent there and confirmed the victim was Broda Shaggy. He was on a stretcher with a gunshot injury to his thigh,” she said.
Adebisi added that the shooting reportedly occurred in Sango-Ota, which falls outside the command’s jurisdiction, but investigations are ongoing.
However, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the incident had not been formally reported to the police in the state.
Meanwhile, Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, also known as Penzaar, did not respond to calls or messages seeking comment.
The incident comes nearly two years after another Nigerian content creator, Afeez Ojesanmi, popularly called Salo, was reportedly robbed of his jewellery and shot in the Lekki area of Lagos in October 2024.
