A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who was abducted by terrorists in Zamfara State has regained freedom after his captors reportedly collected a ransom of N10 million and two brand-new motorcycles.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the motorcycles were delivered to the terrorists on Monday as part of the conditions for the corps member’s release.

Photos obtained by the outlet showed one of the terrorists posing in front of the two motorcycles, while another stood nearby using a mobile phone, believed to be communicating with accomplices.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the abductors had earlier received N10 million from the victim’s family and associates. However, after collecting the money, they allegedly demanded additional logistics support, including the supply of two new motorcycles.

The corps member was released after the motorcycles were delivered to the kidnappers.

Earlier, on February 28, 2026, SaharaReporters reported that the abducted corps member had cried out for help while in captivity, alleging severe torture by the terrorists, commonly referred to as bandits.

In a disturbing video obtained by the media platform, the corps member, speaking in Hausa, was seen surrounded by armed men who repeatedly flogged and assaulted him despite his desperate pleas for mercy.

The footage showed the exhausted victim lying on the ground as the attackers struck him with long sticks while others punched and kicked him.

During the ordeal, he was heard begging Nigerians to intervene, saying his life was in danger due to the relentless torture.

“Please help me for God’s sake, please help my life. I may soon die in this situation,” he pleaded.

Despite his appeals, the attackers continued beating him. Two of the bandits repeatedly flogged him with sticks, punched and kicked him, and forced him onto the ground.

Struggling to breathe and visibly weak, the corps member continued to beg for mercy, making religious appeals in an effort to soften his captors.

“For the sake of Allah, please help me. For the sake of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), please help me. Please help my life,” he cried.

However, the bandits reportedly mocked his pleas and intensified the assault. At one point in the video, one of the attackers, speaking in Hausa, claimed they were treating him the same way they alleged the Nigerian military treated suspects.

The violence escalated further as some of the attackers reportedly stood on the victim’s chest and jumped on him while continuing the flogging.

Banditry and mass kidnappings have remained a major security challenge in several parts of northern Nigeria, with students, travellers and youth corps members increasingly targeted by criminal groups seeking ransom payments.
