Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure, Dele Momodu, has praised President Bola Tinubu for stepping in to halt the sealing of business and political properties in Abuja — a move that included the PDP National Secretariat — over outstanding ground rent payments.

On May 26, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, began sealing various establishments, including banks, fuel stations, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office. The enforcement was justified by the FCTA as a response to unpaid rent obligations totaling billions of naira.

The action sparked widespread backlash across political and public circles, prompting President Tinubu to intervene. He ordered an immediate suspension of the exercise and granted a 14-day grace period for affected parties to settle their debts.

Reacting from the United States via Instagram, Momodu welcomed Tinubu’s intervention, calling it a demonstration of effective leadership and a necessary check on what he described as Wike’s overreach.

“We used to think Nigeria had two presidents — Tinubu and Wike. Now we know Wike has a boss,” Momodu stated, criticizing the FCT Minister for allegedly running the territory as if it were under his personal control.

Momodu went on to urge President Tinubu to rein in Wike’s influence in Rivers State, where a long-standing feud with Governor Sim Fubara continues to stir political unrest. He accused Wike of being “vindictive and disruptive” and commended Tinubu’s decisive move as a clear message that no one operates above presidential authority.
