The Rivers State Police Command has launched a full investigation into a viral video showing the brutal assault and coercion of Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor, the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 22, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that the incident occurred on June 20, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., when a group of about 30 armed men stormed the Ahoada-East Council Secretariat.
The attackers, allegedly led by Mr. Hector Ekakita—the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Chief of Staff (COS) to the sole administrator—reportedly assaulted Iheanachor, stole his mobile phones, and forcibly compelled him to sign a letter of resignation. They also made away with official and personal documents from his office.
“The Sole Administrator is currently receiving medical treatment due to injuries sustained during the attack. He is in stable condition,” the police statement noted.

SP Iringe-Koko stated that the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has visited the scene alongside heads of other security agencies and has ordered all individuals implicated—especially the CSO and COS—to report to the State Police Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, for questioning.
“The Command condemns this despicable act in the strongest terms and warns that failure to comply with the invitation will attract serious consequences,” she added.
Meanwhile, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor has publicly denied reports that he voluntarily resigned from office. He insists he was assaulted and presented with a pre-written resignation letter, which he was forced to sign under duress.
