Ibadan – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and prominent grassroots politician, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on the anniversary of his passing, describing him as a true architect of modern governance in the state.
In a statement released to the press on Tuesday via his media office, Aleshinloye extolled Senator Ajimobi’s legacy, hailing him as an “erudite leader, accomplished administrator, and visionary statesman” whose service to Oyo State and Nigeria remains unmatched.
“Sweet is the memory of the righteous,” he said. “Though Senator Ajimobi departed this world on June 25, 2020, his impact remains with us. The day he left, it felt like the world paused—the eagle had flown home in a blaze of glory.”
Describing Ajimobi as a “multi-talented development expert,” Aleshinloye noted that his governance style introduced peace, discipline, and progress across Oyo State. He said the late governor managed both human and natural resources with unmatched intelligence and competence, leaving behind a legacy of excellence.
“His unique and exceptional leadership brought a new order that transformed Oyo State. His tenure will always be remembered for restoring stability and initiating reforms that still benefit the people today.”
Reflecting on the personal loss, the former ALGON chairman said,
“I deeply miss his wise counsel, political insight, and generosity. His mentorship was priceless. Senator Ajimobi was not just a political leader—he was a father figure to many of us.”
Aleshinloye concluded with a solemn prayer, saying,
“History will always remember him for the critical role he played in shaping modern Oyo State. His legacy continues to inspire those of us still in the struggle for meaningful, people-oriented leadership.
May the soul of ‘oga wa’—our courageous and brilliant leader—continue to rest in peace. May God grant him Aljanah Firdaus.”
