MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a significant price reduction on its DStv decoder, cutting the cost by 50% from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000. The new pricing took effect on Tuesday, June 25, 2025.
This move comes as the company battles to regain lost ground after losing around 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025, largely due to economic pressures and rising living costs.
In addition to the decoder price slash, MultiChoice has launched a promotional offer aimed at rewarding loyal customers and attracting new ones. From June 16 to July 31, 2025, subscribers who renew their current DStv package in full will automatically be upgraded to the next higher package at no additional charge.
According to the company, these measures are part of its new “We Got You” campaign, designed to address the financial challenges many Nigerians are facing. The initiative also aims to diversify viewer experience by offering more than just sports content.
MultiChoice says it wants subscribers to enjoy a wider range of entertainment, including movies, kids’ programming, drama series, and news, encouraging daily viewing beyond just football matches.
