Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, Customs Area Controller of the Apapa Port Command, has been honoured with the Integrity and Excellent Service Award by the South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP). The recognition was presented during the Guild’s 9th Anniversary Lecture and Awards Ceremony, held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The award celebrates Comptroller Olomu’s exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to transparency, and remarkable contributions to operational efficiency and revenue growth at Nigeria’s busiest seaport.
Presenting the award, SWEGOP Chairman, Pastor Bisi Oladele, stated that the honour was the outcome of a thorough evaluation of Olomu’s public service record. He particularly highlighted Olomu’s achievements in reforming port operations, combating smuggling, and enhancing revenue generation at the Apapa Command.
“Under his leadership, the Apapa Area Command has achieved notable success in revenue performance, transparency, and stakeholder collaboration. Comptroller Olomu exemplifies what it means to serve with integrity and vision,” Oladele said.
Comptroller Olomu, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by Deputy Controller Elijah K., who accepted the award on his behalf and conveyed deep appreciation to SWEGOP for the recognition.
The ceremony also honoured other distinguished Nigerians, including Mogaji Wole Arisekola, prominent publisher and media entrepreneur, and Prince Dotun Oyelade, Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation.
The high-profile event featured a keynote address delivered by a representative of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, and a public lecture by Professor Adeolu Akande, a renowned academic and public policy expert.
The SWEGOP 9th Anniversary brought together dignitaries from across the media, government, private sector, and civil society, celebrating outstanding achievements in public service and journalism.
