Justice S.M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court in Kano has convicted and sentenced a TikTok content creator, Abubakar Ibrahim (popularly known as G-Fresh), and musician Hamisu Sa’id (widely known as Hamisu Breaker), for abusing the Nigerian currency.

The duo was arraigned by the Kano Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on separate one-count charges each, bordering on the abuse of the Naira, in violation of Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007.
According to the EFCC, Abubakar Ibrahim was found guilty of spraying and trampling on ₦14,000 worth of ₦1,000 notes during a dance session at Rahma Sa’idu’s shop in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano in November 2024.
Hamisu Sa’id, on his part, was charged for spraying ₦30,000 in ₦200 denominations during a social event held in Hadejia, Jigawa State, also in November 2024.
Both defendants pleaded guilty to their respective charges.
Following their plea and the presentation of evidence by EFCC counsel, Zarami Mohammed, Justice Shuaibu convicted and sentenced them to five months imprisonment each, with an option of a ₦200,000 fine.
Their arrest and prosecution stemmed from viral footage showing them spraying the Naira — an act deemed illegal under Nigerian law.
