(List) 27 Police Officers Promoted to DCP in Fresh PSC Exercise

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), following recommendations from the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

According to an internal police wireless message dated July 23, 2025, and signed by the Force Secretary, the promotions are effective from May 27, 2025. The circular, widely distributed across all police commands and formations, also included a congratulatory message from the IGP to the newly elevated officers and ordered their inclusion in the official police gazette and force orders.

Promoted officers include:

In a letter dated July 22, 2025, with reference number PSC/PROM/1/1096/II, the Commission stated that the promotions are part of its ongoing reforms to strengthen leadership and enhance operational efficiency within the force.

The promoted officers are expected to take on greater responsibilities in accordance with their new ranks, and their appointments will be reflected in upcoming editions of the police force orders and the official government gazette.

Earlier, on July 21, SaharaReporters had reported that the PSC had also promoted 12 Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), 16 Deputy Commissioners to substantive Commissioners, and 145 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to ACPs. However, one ACP was left out of the exercise due to absence.

Additionally, 29 specialists in IT, Works, and the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) were elevated from Superintendent of Police to Chief Superintendent, while 38 Deputy Superintendents (specialists) were promoted to Superintendent.

  • Enyinnaya Inonachi Adiogu (CP, FCID Gombe)
  • Aminu Baba Raji (CP, FCID Alagbon)
  • Mohammed Mu’azu Usman (CP, Eastern Ports, Port Harcourt)
  • Festus Chinedu Oko (Ag. AIG, DLS Dept, Force HQ)
  • Ronke Nurat Okunade (Special Fraud Unit, FCID Annex, Lagos)

New Commissioners of Police include: Uduak Otu Ita, Sheikh Mohammed Danko, Charles Ezekwesiri Dike, Nnana Oji Ama, Gabriel Onyilo Eliagwu, Abiola Reuben Olutunde, Yakubu Useni Dankaro, Michael Adegoroye Falade, Aina Adesola, Umar Ahmed Chuso, Emefile Tony Osifo, Innocent Ilogbunam Anagbado, Musa Mohammed Sani, Victor Avwerosuo Erivwode, Omoikhudu Philip, and Sylvester Edogbanya.

These series of promotions reflect the PSC’s commitment to repositioning the Nigeria Police Force for improved professionalism and efficiency.
