A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of Idowu Afuye, a former deputy governorship aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following allegations of cyberbullying against a serving senator.

Afuye is accused of cyberbullying Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who currently represents the Ekiti North Senatorial District in the National Assembly. The senator had lodged a formal petition with the police, alleging that Afuye engaged in acts of defamation, blackmail, and cyber harassment.
Based on the petition, the police arrested Afuye and subsequently arraigned him before the court on charges relating to cyberbullying and online defamation.
A source familiar with the case told SaharaReporters, “Idowu Afuye, a former ADC deputy governorship aspirant, was picked up by the police following a petition from Senator Cyril Fasuyi over defamatory online content.”
The court has ordered that Afuye be remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.
