Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has officially announced his intention to seek a second term in office, citing widespread support from stakeholders across the state.

Speaking during a meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Central Working Committee at the party’s secretariat in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, Oyebanji said he was moved by the backing of traditional rulers, civil servants, professional groups, artisans, youth organizations, market women, transport unions, and politicians from various parties.

“This decision is rooted in the overwhelming encouragement I’ve received from all quarters,” the governor said, adding that he aims to build on the progress made during his first term and continue delivering impactful governance.

Addressing speculations of a rift within the state chapter of the APC, Oyebanji maintained that the party remained united. “There is no leadership crisis in Ekiti APC. Our leaders—former Governors Niyi Adebayo and Kayode Fayemi—remain strong pillars of unity,” he said.

The governor formally informed the committee of his re-election plans and solicited their support and prayers, assuring them of his continued respect and loyalty. He pledged to uphold internal democracy and encouraged other interested aspirants to freely contest for the party’s ticket.

He reiterated his commitment to honoring the party’s founding leaders and thanked President Bola Tinubu for his ongoing support to Ekiti, noting that federal economic policies had positively impacted the state’s development.

Governor Oyebanji also urged citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
