Ude Chukwu, the former Deputy Governor of Abia State under Okezie Ikpeazu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated August 5 and addressed to the Chairman of Ndi Elu Ward, Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area, Chukwu cited “personal reasons” for his decision. The letter, received by one Ama Nwoke Ibe, emphasized that the move, though difficult, was in his best interest at this time.

“I write to inform you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” Chukwu wrote. “While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time.”
Chukwu served as Deputy Governor from May 2015 to May 2023 during Ikpeazu’s two-term administration.
His resignation comes shortly after a visit to the current Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti. During the visit, Chukwu was quoted as saying that Otti had earned the right to seek re-election in 2027.
Following the visit, Chukwu was reportedly removed from all PDP stakeholders’ groups within the state, further fueling speculation of a possible defection or political realignment.
