The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has called on passengers who were aboard the Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos (IAN513), which was marred by a mid-air altercation, to come forward with firsthand accounts of what transpired.

The incident centers on Comfort Emmanson, also known as Comfort Bob, a passenger who was involved in a physical confrontation with an air hostess during the flight. Ibom Air has denied allegations that its staff leaked a nude video of Emmanson, which circulated online amidst the controversy.
The drama escalated upon the flight’s arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where Emmanson reportedly assaulted a flight attendant and clashed with airport security personnel. Viral videos showed her confronting officials on the tarmac before being forcibly taken onto an airport bus.
In response, NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu issued a public appeal for witnesses to contact him directly via email at michael.achimugu@ncaa.gov.ng or through direct message for verification and further investigation.
Achimugu emphasized the regulator’s commitment to hearing all perspectives before reaching any conclusions. While affirming that unruly behavior in aviation will not be tolerated, he underscored the importance of holding all responsible parties accountable.
“This does not dismiss the seriousness of unruly conduct and its consequences,” Achimugu said. “However, it ensures that every individual involved is duly investigated and held responsible where appropriate.”
NCAA has deployed officers in Lagos to conduct a fact-finding mission, working closely with the police and other security agencies involved in managing the incident.
Describing the episode as a critical test for aviation systems, Achimugu remarked, “No matter how comprehensive regulations may be, human behavior remains unpredictable. Such incidents highlight system weaknesses and expose loopholes.”
He concluded with a firm reminder: “In aviation, safety is paramount—first, second, and third.”
The NCAA’s intervention comes amid widespread public debate triggered by viral videos of the confrontation, raising questions about passenger rights, airline conduct, and airport security protocols.
