Dangote Cement Plc has pledged full medical support and compensation for Mrs. Ruth Otabor, a recent graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, who lost a leg in a truck accident involving one of the company’s vehicles in Auchi, Edo State.

In a statement on Thursday, the company said its senior officials and insurance team promptly visited the accident scene, met with law enforcement officers, and later checked on the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
“Following the recent road accident in Auchi involving one of our trucks, we reaffirm our commitment to the welfare of those affected. We are ensuring comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation for Mrs. Otabor, in line with Dangote Group’s welfare policy. Our thoughts remain with her and we wish her a full and speedy recovery,” the statement read.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that the crash left Mrs. Otabor with one leg amputated, while doctors warned that her other leg might also require amputation. The motorcycle rider conveying her at the time of the incident is reportedly in critical condition.
The Edo State Police Command confirmed that the truck driver — alleged to be underage and unlicensed — has been charged to court, where he pleaded guilty to three of four counts. The case was adjourned to August 21.
