The ongoing by-elections in Ganye, Adamawa State, have been overshadowed by widespread reports of vote-buying involving agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Despite the heavy presence of security personnel, party agents were openly seen distributing cash to voters at several polling units. Investigations revealed that voters were induced with amounts ranging between ₦2,000 and ₦5,000 per ballot, effectively turning the exercise into what many described as “a contest for the highest bidder.”
Polling centres where such practices were observed included Gangtiyabumso under Gamu Ward, Sangasumi, Gangwari Palace, Ganye 1, Ganye 2, Tsohon Kasuwa, Dadiri Trigali, and Sabon Layi.
Speaking with reporters, a voter candidly admitted, “The truth is, votes don’t count here. They will still manipulate the results, so I might as well collect my share.”
Reports indicate that the inducements began two days before the election, when both APC and PDP allegedly flooded Ganye town with cash, fertiliser, and other farm inputs to sway the electorate.
Observers say the situation highlights how poverty, hunger, and political illiteracy are being exploited by the two dominant parties in their struggle for electoral dominance.
