The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the recently released voter registration figures for the South-East, describing them as “false, deceptive, and designed to weaken the region’s political strength.”

In a statement issued by its Enugu State Publicity Secretary, Comrade David Ani, the party expressed disbelief that Enugu State recorded only 484 new registrations in the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which ran from August 18 to 24, 2025.
“We categorically reject these figures as they do not reflect the true number of registered voters from our state and region,” Ani declared.
According to INEC’s report, a total of 1,379,342 Nigerians successfully completed the online pre-registration nationwide within the week. However, the South-East posted the lowest figures: Ebonyi (261), Enugu (484), Imo (481), Abia (772), while Anambra was conspicuously missing from the list.
The ADC insisted that the data did not tally with the reality on ground. “During the CVR exercise, we mobilised our members massively, and over 2,000 individuals responded by applying both online and at INEC’s offices. We personally monitored the process and saw impressive participation. These figures being circulated are fraudulent,” Ani stated.
The party accused INEC of deliberately suppressing the region’s democratic rights. “This is a blatant attempt to undermine the voting power of Enugu State and the South-East. INEC’s history of bias and corruption is well known, but the depth of this manipulation is alarming,” the statement read.
The ADC demanded an immediate review and correction of the figures. It also assured residents that their votes would be safeguarded in the 2027 general elections.
“To the people of Enugu and the entire South-East, we urge you to get your voters’ cards. Your votes will count in 2027—it will not be business as usual. Change is coming,” Ani said.
The party further revealed it had launched an independent investigation into the voter registration figures and vowed to publish its findings. It also warned INEC against being used “as an instrument of oppression against democracy.”
“Our determination is to take political power in Enugu and across Nigeria to restore the country’s lost glory,” Ani concluded.
