Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network, known as Amotekun, foiled a robbery attempt in the early hours of Saturday following a distress call from residents of Akinale Town in Ewekoro Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. and left a 28-year-old man, Opeyemi Olusanya, with a gunshot wound to his upper left arm. The Amotekun Corps from the Ewekoro Command responded swiftly, arriving at the scene just as the armed robbers were attempting to flee.

The suspects, who were trying to escape in a wine-coloured Kia Cerato with registration number KRD 840 JS—registered to one Ariwoola Abiola Wasiu of Ifesowapo Estate, Adunbu, Itori—abandoned the vehicle upon seeing the security team and fled into a nearby bush.
Although the robbers managed to escape, they made away with several valuables, including eight premium mobile phones, two laptops, pieces of jewellery, and ₦54,000 in cash.
The getaway vehicle has been recovered and handed over to the Nigeria Police at the Itori Division. A joint investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, the injured victim, Olusanya, was found bleeding heavily at the scene and was rushed to a private hospital in Obada-Oko for urgent medical attention.
Local residents praised the Amotekun Corps for their prompt action and described the intervention as a reflection of the agency’s growing effectiveness and commitment to public safety across Ogun State.
