The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the resumption of petrol sales in naira, following a brief suspension earlier this week.
In a memo sent to fuel marketers on Saturday, the refinery revealed that the decision came after the intervention of the Federal Government’s Naira-for-Crude Technical Committee.
“Following the intervention of the Naira for Crude Technical Committee Chairman, we are pleased to inform you of the resumption of PMS sales in naira, commencing immediately,” the statement read.
The refinery encouraged marketers to proceed with placing orders in naira, either for self-collection or free delivery to previously designated depots nationwide.
This update comes less than 24 hours after Dangote Refinery announced a halt in naira-based sales, effective Sunday, September 28, 2025, citing that it had exhausted its crude-for-naira allocation.
In Friday’s earlier memo, the company said:
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has been selling petroleum products in excess of our naira-crude allocations, and consequently, we are unable to sustain PMS sales in naira going forward.”
The company had also directed customers with pending naira transactions to request refunds.
However, with Saturday’s intervention by the FG committee, the refinery has reversed its decision, ensuring continuity in naira-denominated fuel transactions — a move expected to ease concerns among marketers and stabilize fuel supply nationwide.
