Africa’s richest man and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is billed to deliver the keynote address at the 9th Anniversary Lecture and Award Ceremony of the South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP), scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
The prestigious event will take place at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, beginning at 2:00 PM.
In a statement jointly signed by SWEGOP Chairman, Bisi Oladele, and Publicity Secretary, Remi Oladoye, the event will gather prominent figures from the media, government, private sector, and civil society to celebrate excellence in online journalism and honour distinguished Nigerians.
The Guest Lecturer for the occasion is Professor Adeolu Akande, former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
This year’s awardees include:
- Prince Dotun Oyelade, Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation;
- Dr. Babatunde Olomu, Customs Area Controller, Apapa Port Command, Lagos; and
- Mogaji Wole Arisekola, businessman and media entrepreneur.
The ceremony, according to SWEGOP, is not just a celebration of the Guild’s milestones, but also a reaffirmation of its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and democratic engagement through digital journalism.
“SWEGOP and its member platforms remain committed to deepening public discourse and supporting national development through credible, professional online media,” the statement added.
