Alfrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has generated buzz on social media after revealing that he met with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The award-winning musician shared photos from the meeting on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, expressing gratitude for the opportunity.
“It was an honour meeting Emmanuel Macron and sharing our visions for a better world,” Davido wrote alongside images from the high-profile encounter.
Although the singer did not provide details of their discussions, the meeting underscores the strengthening cultural ties and creative diplomacy between Nigeria and France.
President Macron has long shown interest in Africa’s creative industries. During his historic 2018 visit to Nigeria, he toured the Afrika Shrine in Lagos — the iconic home of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti — describing it as a hub for African cultural expression and artistic strength.
The latest engagement comes shortly after Lagos hosted the Création Africa Forum, a French government-backed initiative celebrating innovation in digital fashion, animation, gaming, and immersive technologies. The forum, curated by Maison des Mondes Africains under the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, aims to foster cross-continental collaboration and investment in Africa’s creative economy.
Davido, who continues to serve as one of Africa’s most influential cultural ambassadors, has also recently been appointed Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.
