A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has pledged that the party will restore better living conditions for residents if it returns to power in 2026.

Oluyede, a medical practitioner, said life in the state had deteriorated since the PDP left office, urging citizens to support the party in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.

Speaking on Friday at his ward in Ikere-Ekiti, where he officially declared his intention to contest, Oluyede advised residents yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to do so in order to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Ekiti needs urgent attention, that is why I am contesting. At the moment, nothing is working. Can anyone truly say their lives are better today than they were four years ago? The roads were better then, there was more joy, and people’s worth was higher,” he stated.

Oluyede expressed confidence that the PDP remained strong enough to reclaim power, dismissing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as irrelevant to the state’s politics. According to him, “The real contest in Ekiti is between the PDP and APC. The PDP has the backing of the people, and it is their votes that will return us to Oke Ayoba Government House.”

He also downplayed defections from the PDP, describing those who left as individuals driven by “daily bread politics.”

The aspirant urged party members across Ekiti’s 177 wards to support his ambition in the PDP primary election, stressing that the APC government had not met the people’s expectations.

“I am declaring today that I will run for governor in 2026. We must ensure the APC leaves power in this state. My mission is to make life better for Ekiti people,” he added.
