The final rites for former Oyo State Governor, Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo, are scheduled to take place from June 24 to 26, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Dr. Olunloyo, a renowned intellectual and respected statesman, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 89. He was a former Executive Governor of the old Oyo State and widely recognized for his lasting impact on governance and public administration in Nigeria.
According to the funeral arrangements released by the Olunloyo family, the three-day ceremonies will begin on Tuesday, June 24, with a Classical Music Night of Tributes at Felicia Hall, Jogor Centre, Ibadan. A Wake will follow on Wednesday, June 25, at the same venue.
On Thursday, June 26, a State Commendation Service is scheduled for 8:00 AM at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, followed by a Cathedral Liturgy at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral Church of St. David’s, Kudeti. A private family interment will follow immediately after the church service.
The ceremonies will conclude with a Reception at 2:00 PM at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre.
