The Federal High Court in Abuja is set to arraign popular TikToker Ishaq Abubakar Muhammed, also known as “Major,” along with four others, over alleged defamation and cyberstalking of Senator Shehu Baba Umar Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District. The arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025, under Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/526/2025.
The Nigeria Police Force filed an 11-count criminal charge against the defendants, who include Ahmed Abdulrahman (41), Daure David (35), Ishaq Abubakar Muhammed (25), Abdulrashid Abdullahi Musa (30), and Nasir Usman Abubakar (21). They are accused of conspiring to commit cyberstalking against Senator Buba, contrary to Section 27(1)(b) and punishable under Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended 2024).

According to the charges, Ahmed Abdulrahman allegedly used his Facebook page “Barr Kibanna & Kibanna” to post false claims that Senator Buba sponsors banditry, calling for his investigation. He is also accused of making similar claims on his TikTok account “Kibanna Channel” and YouTube channel, with the intent of harming the senator’s reputation.

Daure David is accused of publishing similar allegations on the online platform 247 Reports and allegedly tried to extort N5 million from the senator under false pretenses, claiming it would be used to pay off protesters.

Ishaq Abubakar Muhammed, publisher of Uncountable Newspaper, is accused of posting claims that Senator Buba sponsors bandits in Northern Nigeria. Abdulrashid Abdullahi Musa allegedly made similar publications in Vanguard Hausa, while Nasir Usman Abubakar is charged with publishing false information on Facebook with the intent to incite disorder.

The charges were signed on October 3, 2025, by Anthony A. Egwu, F.G. Gabriel, and Victor I. Okoye of the Legal/Prosecution Section, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

This case comes weeks after Ishaq Abubakar was released from police custody following the intervention of pro-democracy activist and AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore. Abubakar had gained attention for viral TikTok videos alleging links between Senator Buba and bandit groups in Northern Nigeria, citing previous SaharaReporters investigations into the senator’s activities.
