President Bola Tinubu has removed Dr. Muheeba Dankaka as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), naming former House of Representatives member Ayo Hulayat Omidiran as her successor.

The decision represents a sudden policy reversal by the administration, coming just hours after SaharaReporters published a report highlighting lingering controversies surrounding Dankaka’s tenure.

In a statement on Monday night, Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the new appointment, noting that Omidiran will take over from Dankaka, whose leadership was marked by internal disputes and allegations.

Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mohammed Musa as the Commission’s new Secretary and retained Ogun State’s Kayode Oladele as Commissioner. Oladele, a former lawmaker, had briefly served as acting FCC chairman in 2024.
