A senior officer of the Nigerian Navy, Commodore M. Buba, has been reportedly stabbed to death by suspected phone thieves in Kaduna State.

The incident occurred under the Kawo flyover in the Kaduna North Local Government Area, where the officer was said to have been attacked while attempting to fix a flat tire. According to eyewitness accounts, Commodore Buba, who was undergoing a course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, was returning from the institution when he was accosted by the assailants.
The hoodlums allegedly attempted to rob him of his mobile phone and other personal belongings. During the altercation, the officer sustained stab wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
His remains have been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.
While police and military authorities in the state have yet to issue an official statement, reports indicate that a mob later descended on the scene, apprehended one of the suspected attackers, and lynched him.
