Ganduje Inaugurated as Chairman of FAAN Board Days After Resigning as APC National Chairman
Just a week after stepping down as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje has been officially inaugurated as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday in Abuja, was presided over by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and brought together top stakeholders in the aviation industry.
The newly constituted FAAN Board is made up of eight members drawn from the Ministry of Aviation, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Defence, and includes the FAAN Managing Director/CEO.
Ganduje, who previously served as Governor of Kano State, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in January 2025 to head the FAAN Board. His swearing-in comes shortly after his sudden resignation from the APC’s top position, which he attributed to health-related concerns in a letter addressed to the party’s leadership.
Ganduje became APC National Chairman in August 2023 during a turbulent time in the party, succeeding Abdullahi Adamu. His appointment at the time stirred internal dissent, particularly from members who saw it as a violation of the party’s zoning arrangement, which had earmarked the position for the North Central zone.
Following Ganduje’s exit, APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, has taken over as Acting National Chairman, pending a formal decision by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Despite the controversy surrounding his political leadership, Ganduje’s latest federal appointment marks a significant shift to the aviation sector, where he is expected to play a strategic oversight role as FAAN Board Chairman.
