Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed an immediate investigation into an incident involving Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The order follows a petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which accused the musician of actions that allegedly obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft, in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023. The incident reportedly occurred on August 5, 2025.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Egbetokun instructed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to conduct a thorough probe to “unravel the circumstances” and ensure justice is served.
According to the NCAA, KWAM 1 attempted to board a ValueJet flight with a flask containing liquid, contrary to aviation safety rules. When denied boarding, he allegedly delayed the aircraft’s movement. The agency subsequently placed him on a no-fly list pending investigation.
The development has drawn public attention, particularly in light of a recent case involving another passenger, Comfort Emmanson, who was arrested, charged, and handed a lifetime flight ban by Ibom Air for allegedly assaulting crew members after refusing to switch off her phone. The contrasting handling of both cases has sparked debate over consistency in enforcing aviation and security rules.
