Police in Imo State have arrested a pastor and his alleged accomplice for reportedly raping a 20-year-old woman they had lured under the guise of offering prayers.
The state police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, confirmed on Wednesday that operatives from the Orlu Divisional Headquarters apprehended 32-year-old Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel of Authentic Power City Church, Umuobom in Ideato South Local Government Area, along with Franklin Chizoba, over the incident.
According to police reports, the attack occurred on June 30, 2025. The victim was invited to the pastor’s residence for prayers but was allegedly given a drink that left her dizzy and disoriented. It was then that both men reportedly took advantage of her.
Following a complaint lodged at the police station, officers tracked down and arrested the suspects.
“During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime and further admitted to engaging in homosexual acts,” DSP Okoye stated.
The suspects were arraigned in court on August 12, 2025, and have since been remanded at the Owerri Correctional Facility pending trial.
