Lagos Mourns as Oto-Awori Council Chairman Prince Musibau Asafa Dies

Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa, the Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, has died following a prolonged illness.

His passing was confirmed in a statement posted on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Bodunrin Ayodele, via Facebook. Although the exact date of his death was not specified, the announcement indicated that the council has been plunged into mourning.

“Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area is in mourning following the passing of its Executive Chairman, Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa,” the statement read. “Prince Asafa, a respected politician and public servant, succumbed to a long-term illness, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and service to his community.”

Ayodele added that a close family member confirmed the chairman’s death, noting that despite extensive medical efforts, he could not recover.

As the news spread, tributes began pouring in from political associates, local leaders, and community members who praised Asafa’s dedication to grassroots development and his service to the people of Oto-Awori.

“Oto-Awori LCDA has lost a devoted leader. His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy of service will continue to inspire those who knew him,” the statement concluded.

In a condolence message, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Abdul-Hammed Salawu, extended sympathies on behalf of his council.

“On behalf of the executive, legislature, management, and the people of Somolu Local Government, I express our heartfelt condolences to the people of Oto-Awori LCDA and the APC family over the painful loss of Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
