Over 150 residents abducted from multiple communities in Zamfara State have appeared in a distressing video posted on TikTok by a notorious bandit leader, Ibrahim Musa, pleading for urgent government intervention.
The abductees—comprising men, women, and children—are reportedly from communities including Cogon Daji, Danabuce, Kuliya, Bayawa, Magulu, and Gidan Garduwa. In the video, which was shared via Musa’s TikTok handle, @Ibrahim.Musa99, victims are seen in a forest encampment, visibly distressed and crying out for food and rescue.
One of the captives, speaking in Hausa, criticized both the Zamfara State Government and local leaders for abandoning them in captivity. “We have been in this forest for weeks without food. Our leaders are living in comfort while we suffer in silence,” the abductee lamented.
The victim further revealed that their captors had shown interest in negotiating with the government but claimed the authorities were unresponsive and dismissive. “The bandits say the government looks down on them and refuses dialogue. But they are ready to talk. In this camp alone, we are more than 150. There are other camps with over 200,” the victim stated.
This video appears to be part of a strategic move by the gunmen to pressure the government into negotiations, using the captives’ suffering to gain public sympathy and attention.
In a related development, SaharaReporters uncovered another alarming case in Kwara State where a kidnapper took control of a victim’s TikTok account to post videos from their hideout. The victim, a popular Point-of-Sale (POS) agent known as Yman, was abducted in June 2025 along with several others in separate incidents in Kwara North.
Family members reported that Yman’s abductors had been using his phone number to demand ransom and send disturbing videos via WhatsApp. In a shocking escalation, the kidnapper hijacked his TikTok account, uploading multiple videos showing himself and a getaway motorcycle while issuing threats.
“They sent us videos of Yman crying and begging. Now the kidnapper is confidently using his TikTok to post videos from the bush,” a family member told SaharaReporters.
These incidents underscore the growing audacity of armed groups operating in Nigeria and highlight glaring security lapses that continue to put innocent lives at risk.
