Taif, Saudi Arabia – A day of leisure turned into chaos and fear at the popular Green Mountain Park in Taif after a major accident involving a 360-degree amusement ride left 23 people injured.
According to local media sources, the high-thrill ride—designed to swing and rotate passengers in full circular motion—suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure while in operation. Eyewitnesses reported that the ride suddenly broke apart mid-air, sending screams across the park as passengers were violently jolted and thrown about.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene immediately after the incident. Medical teams provided first aid on site before transporting several of the injured to nearby hospitals. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, but many of the victims are said to have sustained moderate to serious injuries, including fractures, head trauma, and bruising.
The Saudi authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the mechanical failure. Engineers and safety inspectors are working to examine the ride’s structure and maintenance records. In the meantime, Green Mountain Park has suspended operations of all similar high-risk attractions pending the outcome of the investigation.
Officials from the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) have also pledged to enforce stricter safety regulations across amusement parks nationwide to prevent future tragedies. “The safety of citizens and visitors is our top priority,” a GEA spokesperson stated. “We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring accountability and compliance.”

The incident has sparked widespread concern among families and amusement park patrons, many of whom are calling for better oversight and more frequent safety inspections. Videos of the incident circulating on social media have added to the public outcry, with users questioning how such a dangerous malfunction could occur at a licensed facility.
As investigations continue, the focus remains on the recovery of the injured and restoring public confidence in amusement park safety across the Kingdom.
