The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a boy identified as Emmanuel by suspected kidnappers in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred after the abductors, who had seized Emmanuel and his two sisters, ordered him to sexually assault one of them. When he refused, they reportedly murdered him.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who first disclosed the case on social media, said the children were abducted after armed men stormed their area. When the family could not meet ransom demands, the victims were subjected to cruel and degrading treatment before Emmanuel was killed.
Confirming the tragedy, Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Ikioye Orutugu, described the act as “heartless and barbaric.” He extended condolences to the bereaved family and residents of Amansea while directing the State Intelligence Department to work with surviving victims to aid investigations.
The Command urged residents to remain calm and provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
“The CP reiterated the Command’s resolve to remain firm in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state,” Ikenga said, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains the police’s top priority.
