A group of angry members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ekiti State stormed the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Friday to protest the disqualification of Kayode Ojo from the forthcoming governorship primary.

The protesters, mostly women, accused the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) of injustice after Ojo was removed from the list of aspirants cleared to contest in the October 27 primary. His disqualification, they said, was a ploy to pave the way for the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to emerge as the consensus candidate.

Chanting slogans such as “Ekiti says No to Governor Biodun Oyebanji,” “No to Consensus,” and “Yes to Kayode Ojo,” the demonstrators carried placards with inscriptions including “We Say No to Kayode Ojo’s Disqualification,” “We Don’t Want Consensus,” and “APC Must Let Ekiti People Choose Their Candidate.”
The angry party members demanded that the national leadership of the APC reverse Ojo’s disqualification and allow a transparent primary process ahead of the July 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.

As of press time, officials of the party were yet to address the protesters, who vowed to continue their demonstration until their demands were met.
